NEW JERSEY, Montclair, July 24, 2007 DDR
Global, a leading provider of innovative multicultural marketing, advertising,
and translation solutions to corporations worldwide, is proud to announce that
its Founder and CEO, Jay Rossi, was invited by Middlebury College’s Dean of
Language Schools and Schools Abroad, Michael Geisler, to represent DDR Global
as an alumnus and business-owner panelist on the 2007 Language Schools Alumni
Career Panel held yesterday at McCardell Bicentennial Hall on the Middlebury
College campus.
At the annual event co-sponsored by the Offices of the Dean, Career Services,
and Alumni Relations, Mr. Rossi, who obtained his Masters degree in Spanish
from Middlebury’s Spanish School in 1994, joined fellow panelists and Language
School alumni Edward Gingold, Attorney and Advisor to the Office of the General
Counsel at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Leah Gowron, Director of
Alumni Relations at the Monterey Institute for International Studies, Elizabeth
Rosenberg, Journalist, and Heidi Lynn Whitesell, Germany Team, Office of
International Affairs and Policy, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. The
panelists discussed their respective fields with Middlebury students currently
enrolled in the nine-language, world-renowned summer immersion program, and
reflected upon the value of a Middlebury education. In addition, panelists gave
students strategies for marketing their language proficiency in the global
marketplace, and stressed the importance of developing a broad range of skills,
in addition to mastering a second language, before entering the job market.
“I felt honored not only to be invited by Dean Geisler but also to find myself
in the company of such esteemed colleagues,” said Rossi. “We welcomed the
opportunity to share our experience with the students at Middlebury. As
experienced professionals and Middlebury alumni, our job descriptions include
networking, mentoring, and helping newly-minted graduates jumpstart their
careers. I find it rewarding to interact with so many bright people with such
diverse backgrounds, skills, and interests. And returning to scenic Middlebury
is always a treat.”
The day after the event, Elizabeth Karnes Keefe, Assistant Dean of the Language
Schools, sent the panelists this post-mortem: “People have been telling me how
inspiring and informative [yesterday’s] panel was. I want you to know how proud
we are to have such interesting and accomplished alumni, and how grateful I am
to you for coming back and sharing your experiences with the students who will
follow in your footsteps.”
About Middlebury College
Language Schools
Every summer for the past 92 years, Middlebury has created a unique linguistic
environment, one that provides students with unlimited opportunities to speak
their target language. Students in Middlebury’s summer Language Schools use
their target language exclusively—Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian,
Japanese, Portuguese, Russian or Spanish—in classes, dining halls, dormitories,
and co-curricular activities. Middlebury's summer programs are the
international standard for excellence in language instruction. Most students
gain a year or more of college-level language learning in one intensive summer
session. Five of Middlebury’s summer schools—French, German, Italian, Russian,
and Spanish—also offer graduate programs, six weeks in length, leading to the
Master of Arts or to Middlebury’s unique Doctor of Modern Languages. A summer
at Middlebury can also prepare students for study abroad, by improving language
skills, deepening cultural understanding, and strengthening confidence and
learning strategies. For more information about Middlebury’s Language Schools,
